Marivel Sedillo is a highly respected educator and administrator. She currently serves as the Chief Academic Officer for Hays Consolidated Independent School District, where she oversees the district’s instructional programs, curriculum development, and assessment initiatives.

Sedillo is responsible for developing and implementing innovative instructional strategies to ensure that every student in the district has access to a high-quality education. She works closely with teachers, administrators, and community members to identify areas for improvement and to develop strategies to address them.

“Hays CISD was very excited to bring Sedillo into her role”, said former Trustee Willie Tenorio, Jr, who was on the Board when she was hired. “She has extensive experience within the district and outside of its boundaries, in a wide variety of academic and administrative disciplines. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her position.”

Sedillo began her journey in the education field as a bilingual special education teacher in Austin ISD in 1994. She moved to Hays CISD as a bilingual kindergarten and first grade teacher. She also worked as an assistant principal and educational diagnostician. From 2001 to 2006, she served as the Hays CISD Director or Human Resources. In 2006, she was the director of secondary staffing for Round Rock ISD. From 2007 to0 2014, she was the first principal of Hays CISD’s Camino Real Elementary School.

Sedillo then served in Manor ISD over human resources and federal programs and as an area executive director in Pflugerville ISD. In 2019, she returned to Hays CISD to run Human Resources.

Sedillo earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Texas State University and is working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership.
