Amended Kyle Watering Restrictions

Due to the historic temperatures and demand, the City of Kyle amended Stage II of its water conservation program on July 13, 2022, to restrict irrigation use to one day a week, until further notice. The city enacted the change to the irrigation schedule to prevent implementing Stage 3 Mandatory Water Use Management Rules, that would prohibit all irrigation.

Current Stage 2 Mandatory Water Use Management Rules in effect include:

Customers may water (irrigate):

  • By handheld hose, or handheld bucket from 7 pm to 10 am on any day.
  • By a hose and sprinkler, a soaker hose or drip irrigation from midnight to 10 am on their designated outdoor water use day.
  • By permanently installed automatic irrigation system from 12 Midnight to 10 am on their designated outdoor water use day.

Amended Irrigation Schedule:

  • Residential Odd-Numbered Addresses: Wednesday
  • Residential Even-Numbered Addresses: Thursday
  • Commercial & Multi-Family: Friday

Washing automobiles, trucks, trailers, boats, or other vehicle or mobile equipment:

  • Only from 7 pm to 10 am on the customer’s designated water use day.
  • Washing must be done with a handheld bucket or handheld hose equipped with a positive shutoff nozzle.

Items and actions, which are prohibited during this stage of drought management:

  • Using automatic fill valve to add water to an outdoor swimming or wading pool or pond.
  • Charity car washes.
  • Washing sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, streets, patios or other paved areas except to alleviate an immediate health or safety hazard.

At all times the drought management plan states:

  • Requires customers to repair leaks, broken lines, watering fixtures, and to ensure that irrigation systems are operated in a manner which reduces waste. If you believe you may have a leak, please notify Kyle Public Works as quickly as possible at 512-262-3024.
  • Prohibits run-off from property line to a distance of 50 feet or more.
  • Prohibits allowing water to pond in a street or parking lot to a depth in excess of 0.25 inches.
  • Prohibits watering or irrigating landscape between the hours of 10 am and 8 pm.
