Kyle Fair and Music Festival 2009

The Kyle Fair and Music Festival features Corey Morrow, Ram Herrera, and seven other bands, plus a carnival, BBQ cook-off, 5K run, parade and more! Admission is free!

The festival runs from Thursday, October 15th, to Sunday, October 18th at Gregg-Clarke Park, 1300 W. Center St. in Kyle, Texas.

The festival kicks off with a carnival on October 15th, beginning at 6pm.

On Friday, October 16th, the featured performer will be Ram Herrera and the Outlaw Band. Herrera has won the Tejano Music award for Male Entertainer of the Year and has been nominated twice for a Grammy. Herrera will perform at 9pm.

In addition, David Ybarra & the LA Blues Band perform at 6pm and the Texas Blind Salamanders will also perform at 5pm.

On Saturday, October 17th, the featured performer is country music sensation Cory Morrow. Morrow is one of the best live performers in Country music today. His CD, Vagrants and Kings, is an amazing compilation of Texas Country music..

Also on Saturday, Kyle Park (6:45pm) and Jason Allen (4:45pm) will also appear.

Other bands playing on Saturday are Ryan James (3:00pm), Matt Deaton & Front Porch Texas (1:30pm), and Texas FX (12 noon).

The Kyle Fair Carnival will setup at the football field in Gregg-Clarke Park. For the best value, purchase a wristband for $15.00.

The carnival hours are:

October 15th, Thursday 6pm to 11:30pm
October 16th, Friday, 6pm to 11:30pm
October 17, Saturday 12 noon to 11:30pm
October 18th, Sunday, Carnival opens at 1pm. The completion time was not available.

The Kyle Parade kicks off at 10 am on Saturday, October 17th. This year’s theme is Texas Flowers.

The parade will start from City Square Park at the corner of Main and Center St. and will head West on Center Street toward Gregg-Clark Park. The parade announcers will be at the intersection of Center St. and Myers.

There will be awards for best float, most colorful, and most spirit.

After the parade, head over to the park and listen to the local school bands perform and then have lunch and shop at the 66 booths at the park.

The Kyle – O- Meter 5k, sponsored by Broadway Bank, begins at 7am on Sunday, October 18th at Wallace Middle School. Runners will head west on Center St and onto Cypress road to the ranch gate and then return to the school.

Unlike the early start time for the 5K, the Texas Hold-em tournament begins at 3pm. After all, what self respecting poker player gets up before noon, anyway?

The event is at the Historic Train Depot, located at 101 North Front Street. Up to 54 players, ages 21 and up, will play in this just for fun gathering. The $20.00 entrance fee benefits Kyle Parks and Recreation youth oriented activities and programs, so you can honestly tell your spouse you’re doing this for the children of Kyle. There will not be prize money, but sponsors have donated prizes that will be given out during the tournament.

Professional poker players are not allowed, so lucky for you all, I can’t compete.
