At the Hays CISD technology show, students produced and created this amazing light show. The music, and lasers light up the Performing Arts Center in Kyle, Texas.
If ipods had been invented in 1550, this is the music that would have been on it, says Dr. Richard Floyd, before he conducts the Texas Music Educators Association, Region XVIII’s 2011-2012 All-Region Symphonic Band. For area middle school musicians, performing in this group is an honor.
This performance, on December 10, 2011, at the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center (PAC), is one of the many events in Kyle that draws persons from all over Central Texas. The PAC has provided a boost to the local economy, since crowds usually eat and purchase gas in the vicinity before and after shows.

The Hays CISD Mariachi Program held the first annual Dia de los Muertos Mariachi Extravaganza, November 5, 2011. Every Mariachi band in the district preformed (Wallace Middle School, Chapa Middle School, and Lehman High), along with special guests, including Celeste, a champion solo vocalist, the Texas State Mariachi and Texas State Salsa groups, plus the award winning Fuentes Glee Club. Students raised several thousand dollars for the program through a BBQ sale. Local businesses, student groups and PTA’s had booths also.
The Mariachi Band Booster will host the event on November 23, 2012.

It begins with the Lehman High School Mariachi’s, and the informational booths and demonstrations, and features the Kyle Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Ray Hernandez and Dr. Richard Rhodes ACC President and CEO.
Hays Campus will be the first community college campus in Hays County. Located in Kyle’s Plum Creek development, west of Interstate 35, the campus will provide the Kyle/Buda area convenient access to general education and academic transfer opportunities, workforce education vital to local economic development, and foundation skills programs for those not yet college-ready.
ACC Hays Campus will also offer comprehensive support services to help students achieve their college and career goals. The campus will include advising and counseling, a financial aid office, learning lab with free tutoring, online and on-site library services, science labs, computer labs, testing center, a student commons area, bookstore, and more.
