The Hays Education Foundation recognized the 2010 Teachers of the Year at its annual appreciation luncheon.
The district’s Elementary Teacher of the Year, Michelle Reid, a reading
intervention teacher at Hemphill Elementary School, and Secondary Teacher of
the Year, Sara Salvitti Levin, language arts teacher at Barton Middle School,
were recognized.
In addition, Ann Conlee, Assistant Principal of Kyle
Elementary School, was recognized as the Texas Elementary Principals and
Supervisors Association (TEPSA) Region XIII Assistant Principal of the Year.
The best teachers exhibit highly empathic intelligence,” said Dr. Jeremy Lyon,
Superintendent of Hays CISD. Empathy, simply, he said, is the ability
to share in another’s emotions, thoughts or feelings.
“This is a gift, an extraordinary gift,” he said. “And to our teachers of the
year, we say thank you.”
